Breast Augmentation

So you’re thinking about getting breast implants. Maybe you have a vision in mind of how you’d look with breast implants, and you’ve probably discussed the topic with a friend or family member. For some women, breast tissue stretches over time, diminishing firmness and volume. This can result from pregnancy, nursing, or the natural aging process. Some women experience no diminishment in firmness but simply want larger breasts.  An answer would be breast augmentation.

​Gel or saline breast implants are inserted beneath the breast tissue or the chest wall muscle to increase volume. Commonly, the implants will add two cup sizes. Standard approaches are underarm, periareolar, inframammary, and transumbilical. Implant massage is started a few days after the procedure. This procedures takes 1-2 hours and is done with general anesthesia. Return to normal activity takes one week.
