Skin Cancer Screening

Prescott ‑ Prescott Valley ‑ Cottonwood

Appropriate screening for skin cancer includes an examination of the entire skin surface for telltale signs of cancer.

Suspicious lesions consist of any completely new skin growth, but particularly darkly pigmented lesions, a sore that won’t heal, and places that crust, scale, or bleed. Any suspicious clinical lesion is usually biopsied before treatment to confirm that the lesion is proven cancer and to determine the cell type which involves other important microscopic features.
